10 Things You Need to Know About TES Online
1. There are three different Alliances that represent the various regions in The Elder Scrolls Online: Daggerfall Covenant, Ebonheart Pact and Aldmeri Dominion. Each Alliance has three separate races, making nine total. Each Alliance also has its own starting area which is separate from the capital cities.
2. After choosing a class, players will be able to customize how their character uses their abilities, what weapons they use and what fighting style they enjoy most. It's possible to have a sword-wielding magic wielder or stealthy healer.
3. Storyline-wise, The Elder Scrolls Online is set 1000 years before Skyrim. As such, there will be large, thriving areas in the game that were mere ruins in Skyrim.
4. Weapons and armor will be regionally appropriate in The Elder Scrolls Online. This means that certain races will find it difficult to wear another race's armor and weapons. However, thanks to the game's involved crafting system, players will be able to craft items from different regions if they are skilled enough to do so.
5. The character customization for The Elder Scrolls Online will be almost limitless. Players will be able to take an Argonian, which is a reptilian race, and make their character look extremely different from another Argonian. Character models will be designed simply enough, however, so players can handle seeing hundreds of unique character models on-screen at the same time.
6. There are three different Elven races in The Elder Scrolls Online: Wood Elves, Dark Elves and High Elves. All three vary from the other dramatically and have entirely different histories and sets of ideals. Even the in-game cities, individual NPCs, lore books and music in the areas vary considerably.
7. Many quests in The Elder Scrolls Online will be discovered while exploring out in the world.
8. Combat in The Elder Scrolls Online will be fast-paced and exciting. It will take a more quick and tactical approach than most older MMORPGs. It's possible to react to an attack with a block, for example, by using a shield. It will also be possible for all characters to sprint, crouch and sneak.
9. Instead of having multiple servers and/or shards, The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a single super-server where all players can easily join up with friends and guildmates.
10. The Elder Scrolls will feature a massive siege-style player vs. player map where all three factions will go against one another.
